Salar de Uyuni
In southwestern Bolivia lies the biggest salt flat in the world, 10,000 square kilometers. Its certainly easy to get disoriented here with the flats of white salt blending in with the pale blue sky. During the wet season the flat turns into and enormous puddle that reflects the sky perfectly, erasing the horizon completely. This is the closest you’ll get to heaven on Earth. Locals tell the tale of a giantess named Tunupa, who created the dessert with her abundance of tears and breast milk after she and her baby were abandoned by her husband Kushku.
